High school was good, being home from school and not at my job was horrible. And for that latter reason alone I wouldn't go near my jr. high and high school years again for anything.
The only useful thing I got out of high school was learning to touch type.
If I could do it over, like most, I would have been less oblivious to the girls who wanted to pick me up, would have worked a little harder on the academics (I got B's and C's with essentially no effort, it was not a very academic school, I could have easily had a 4.0 average but it would have been so easy I couldn't see the point.)
I would have realized that as a Mensa level guy, the local yokel Bible-beaters were not going to be my friends, nor did I want them as friends.
All told I don't think I could improve the experience or result enough to make a "re-do" worth the effort.
If tomorrow you woke up and found out you had to do HS all over again what would you do differently? For me, definitely spending more time studying and not getting so crazy over boys lol.
Never walk in the door. Go take the GED first day of grade 9.
Either not do it at all, or get such outstanding grades that I would have a chance of getting accepted into a military academy. I was too busy with the partying and hanging out, and all of that did not mean nothing after. Even better, I could have done all the partying and hanging out while getting great grades.
At that, if I just did not go at all, just get my GED, work until I was of age to enlist, then enlist, and skip all the BS.
I would ask to be taught in other than a public school if it meant I had to be taught by current day public school teachers under current day public school administration. I would ask to be homeschooled but my parents wouldn't be up to the job.
I would work harder in my science classes and calculus.
Learn Russian or a Chinese or Middle Eastern language, in addition to the Spanish I took and would take again, and pass on the French I did take, this time around. I'm assuming I could get something other than French, Spanish or German these days and if not, could find someone to teach me. I would prepare myself for a different college major.
If I had it to do again, I would appreciate all the free time I had in high school. Even with a full academic schedule and a part time job (and not infrequent detentions), I still had a lot more free time than I have ever had as an adult. It was wonderful to have friends around and to be free to just go have some spontaneous fun, rather than having to plan everything weeks in advance and only see good friends a few times per year. That is the thing I miss the most about my high school and college years.

I would have cultivated friendships with some of my quieter classmates. Coming from a family of extroverts, I rarely appreciated introverts in my teens. However, I got to know a few of these classmates after high school and discovered that they were wonderful people.
I also would have studied more. Although I did well in school, I could have done much better.
