I just posted this on my local forum in TX but thought I would try here also. I am wondering how to find out which school districts offer good visual arts programs. If a school offers AP programs in Visual Arts, does this mean they have a good art program or is this not a reliable indicator? Any help would be appreciated.
Greenville SC public schools has a Fine Arts School on the campus of Wade Hampton High School (but is attended by a sampling of students from all over the county). The schedule is like a vocational school (high school part of the day, fine arts the other part). My brother was a student there and was accepted into Pratt Institute Art and Design. He's now an Industrial Designer.
As for knowing if the AP program in Visual Arts is good, ask how many students pass the AP exam. That would be one indicator.
Just came back from a visit to MN, we used to live there back in 1995, in Plymouth and Medicine Lake. I love MN, especially the skyways in Minneapolis. Love the fresh air, love the frozen lakes in the winter, I could go on....... Maybe I should move back
Richardson (TX) High School has an Arts Magnet program within it. Don't know anything else about it though.
