Immersion! Taking English lessons with a professional ESL instructor. To add to this finding a friend to practice the language with (outside the classroom). Watching (or listening to) stuff in English is also a good additional activity.

While it isn't "the way" to learn English, watching television helps...not watching foreign language DVDs...but American television.

Listening to good vocal music records help with pronunciation. If you listen to Frank Sinatra in interviews, he has a NJ accent. But not when he sings.
