OTOH, you can look up where the regular public schools stand and some are doing quite well.
Among the top ranked in Illinois, are Chicago Public magnet schools, but Libertyville High school which is not a magnet is #10
My kids old high school Evanston Twnshp is #27 in Illinois and is #526 in the national rankings. They have a large minority population and a large economically disadvantaged population.
My grandchildren's school (Glenda Dawson High School) is #127 in the Texas rankings and #1169 in the national rankings. They have fewer economically disadvantaged students and more minority (but the minority is more Asian and Hispanic than black).
Interesting, imo. Of course the testing is what they usually go on, but they use graduation rate and reading and math proficiency measures as well.
