A father in Florida says he doesn't understand why his fifth-grade son was asked to remove his Hooters-themed face mask at school.

"There is nothing offensive or derogatory about this mask,” the father, Greg Golba, said.

I've got to say that the father is a complete idiot to send his young kid to school with that mask. Do I think it's horribly offensive? No, but it is in extremely poor taste for a young boy to wear to school. I however, would love the mask.

All it says is the name of the restaurant, so I don't see what the big deal is.

As it's a crude name for boobs, it's not something appropriate to have on a face mask and have kids giggling at and disrupting class all day. Additionally, it's in very poor taste and 10-year-old girls have a right to come to school without having to feel uncomfortable about some boy who thinks he can smirk and wear a sexually crude term about their bodies displayed blatantly on his face mask.

The dad needs to wake up.

The mask itself was in poor taste. In this PC world it was going to be called out.

If the mask was solid white or even plain orange with Hooters off to the side they would have a fair argument. Something similar to the white mask listed here: https://www.ebay.com/c/1255308985

Yes. Schools should really focus a word's denotation rather than its connotation especially if they are not going to teach that there is a difference.

The last time I went to Hooters with my SO, about one quarter of the patrons were families with children of all ages. You see way way more skin at the beach. Hooters is downright tame.

They're not upset about the restaurant, they're upset about the word "hooters" which is slang for boobs. What if he wore a mask that read "b@llsack" or "pr!ck"? That would get him in trouble too.
