It's good to try to mix edutainment with traditional methods. Try not to depend on one or another, but have a good mix as much as possible and try to display as many different methods/initiatives of student's own thinking as much as possible.

Which by the way is not a theory I wholly subscribe to , it just happens to be on that makes me wonder a bit is all .
Maturity as adults has way more to do with behavioral expectations of them, and parenting, than what they saw on TV. It's learned as a result of social interaction with peers, adults, etc...When young adults struggle to cope as adults it's more because they have been learned through experience that acting a certain way yields a certain desired result, that doesn't carry over to the broader world.

If you want to complain about ill-effects of television the edutainment seen on Sesame Street (or most other PBS programming) isn't to blame.

Commercially viable programming that doesn't have a huge mission beyond selling Gogurt commercial slots is a lot "worse," shows on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network which don't educate much of anything.
