I agree with you about Shakespeare, I absolutely despised it. But, when you start taking some things out you start losing cultural literacy.

That cuts across various domains, not just literature. Nursery rhymes, fairy tales, songs.

While banning books SHOULD be a topic to discuss on the education forum, it seems impossible to keep national politics out of it.
