Just curious, how big are your local elementary and secondary schools?

Here, the few older elementary schools (K-5) that are remaining have between 350-500 students. Most of the other elementary schools have between 750-1000 students.

The middle schools (6-8) here have about 950-1,050 students.

The high schools (9-12) have about 1,500 - 2,300 students.

Quite different than the schools I went to. My elementary had about 300 students, at most. There were about 500 students at my middle school and about 1,200 at my HS.

Here in Southern California, our elementary school (k-6) has about 950 and our high school will have close to 4,000 next year. Too big I think

I am a retired high school English teacher who substitutes in Irvine and Saddleback Valley Unified School Districts here in Orange County, CA. Most high schools I go into have from 2600 to about 3200 kids.

Elementary: 400-700
Middle: 1,220-1,715
High: 2,800-3,100

That is for Mission Viejo, CA and we are considered an area with very good schools in Southern California.

The most populous high school in California is Long Beach Polytechnic High School with 4,920 students in the city of Long Beach, CA.

We have 5 schools in our district, 3 elementary, 1 middle and one high school. Elementary schools have between 350 and 500, Middle School (grades 6-8) has just over 750, High School (grades 9-12) has just over 1,000. We're one of the smaller districts but not that unusual.

We have 137 elementary schools in our district. They range anywhere from about 300 students in grades K-6 to 1,300 students in grades K-6. The elementary where I work has about 850 students and the elementary school where my wife works has about 500 students and it is on the same road about 3/4 of a mile away. I think the high schools range between 2,100 and 3,100 students.

Total schools 196
Elementary schools (K-6) 137
Middle schools (6-8)3 Middle schools (7-8) 19
Secondary schools (7-12) 4
High schools (9-12) 21
Special education centers 9
Alternative high schools 3

Alternative programs and learning centers 43

I'm assuming that is Fairfax County Public Schools. That is a large district, ranked 13th in enrollment in the whole USA!

I had less than 35 kids in my graduating class (1990). My son, now attending that same school system has 17 kids in his grade. I would guess we have a little over 400 students in the entire K-12 system.
