I personally am intrigued with the top 5% crowd. I thought geniuses/near geniuses were far and few in between... but not on City Data. No such thing as a "bell curve" (symmetrical) where the mean is "of average intelligence" on CD...LOL

I love how most people think they are in the top 25% or 5%. By the law of statistics only very few people could ever be in those top brackets with at least 90% being in the middle. Most people are very narcissistic and think they are special or better than "the masses" when they are just another dumb moron who did nothing to aid mankind no doubt...

It would be interesting to see the demographics of each person that voted. I didn't vote, though when I considered it I was going to choose bottom 50%. I chose not to because I felt embarrassed lol, private poll or not.

You don't have to be a genius to be in the top 5%. That's over 300 million people.

The poll is asking something different from the thread title. The poll is asking how smart you are compared to the people in the US. The thread title is asking if you're smarter than the people you interact with on a daily basis.

I surround myself with stupid people to make myself feel better. Hence, I'm very smart among my peers. However, if you take it on a national scale, I'm... too much thinking. My head hurts.

You must be smarter than me because I didn't even think to read the poll question.

In the US...it's only 15 million. Notice the thread question said "general US population."

Might've been a typo -- maybe the Stan meant 50% instead of 2%.

BTW, I'd bet the bell curve for CD is shifted to the right.

It would be, I agree. But confidence isn't arrogance.

The poll was closed when I read this thread. Just read the intro question and the op's note.

I think we all feel like we're surrounded by idiots sometimes.
