What are some good 2-year or less Tech/Training Programs that deal more with "hands on" training initially than wasted time on prerequisite classes.?

Phlembotomy, pharmacy Tech, or a vet tech.

Phlembotomy around here is about a 6 month program.

Correct. The LPN programs most everywhere are nuts and bolts, hands on programs. The pay is decent and there are JOBS. Not only that, but there are LPN to RN programs offered thru many reputable colleges where you can bump up to an RN Associate Degree with one additional year of schooling.

The problem is everyone comes up with the same answers piling more bodies into a field that's already at capacity.

X-Ray technicians is an example. 10 years ago x-ray techs were in extreme demand, tech schools cranked up the capacity and now, 10 years later, a number of x-ray techs are unemployed. Want to join their ranks?

Hospitals are hurting and every one of them is cutting back.

For hands and bolts be an extremely good auto mechanic... used cars are going to be around for a while. As an auto mechanic you can even set up your own business and since you most likely own all your tools it wouldn't take much overhead.

I know a local mechanic here that has all the work he can stand and makes six figures but he is very good.

If you are interested in the Medical field--look into being an ultrasound tech too. I know in our area they make about $65,000/year-very respectable pay around here for the length of schooling required.

King_X.......I like your question and way of thinking. Too many people waste money getting a 4 year degree in fields that pay next to nothing or have very few openings. The world needs people who have FIX things!
