I read in our local newspaper that our teachers and support personnel are being asked to contribute to the school district's levy campaign "treasure chest" via payroll deduction. This is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing. Anyone else have experience with this?

I would want to see examples of the administration's contributions before I even thought about donating anything. The overpaid geniuses who think up these things should be the first to ante up.

This most likely came from the school board which is an elected position, not a paid position. Superintendents don't have this kind of control over school funding.

I supposed we pay into our levy through a payroll deduction called state income tax but I have never heard of a direct payment like this.

Thanks for the replies! I talked with someone who works for the school district and she was STUNNED to hear that the teacher's union had agreed to it. She belongs to the union and didn't hear anything about it...
