This educator does not believe it is right to thwart the higher students in the name of redistributing wealth. I consider it unfair that they do not get the education they deserve. There just isn't enough of me left to give it to them after I've spent 90% of my effort on the bottom half of my class. The only way I'd have time for them is to have my kids grouped by ability.

If I had it my way, I'd expend the same amount of energy on each level of student I have. I don't have it my way. Our school is graded based on number of students passing high stakes tests so that's where our effort goes. It's not that I believe it's right to thwart higher performing kids. It's that if I don't get the lower performing ones up there, I don't have a job.

It's not as much about processing kids like commodities as it is about social engineering to equalize outcomes to transform society, regardless of varying levels of potential. The higher-ability students are sacrificed to the desired social vision.

The dumbing down of the curriculum is a significant factor in what has gone wrong in our country's K-12 education. Alarmingly, the dumbing is intentional social engineering - not just to 'reach' the lowest common denominator, but to 'equalize' educational outcomes in order to equalize incomes with the end goal of redistributing wealth.
Agreed.

Many people believe that students should just make do with whatever mediocre edcuation they're receiving, in the name of fitting in with society, or not making the school system "bend" to them and their needs.

This dumbing down and "everyone is equal" garbage is one of the main reasons we have chosen not to partake of public education.
