I've been searching the net and trying to use help in excel to figure this out, but I'm stumped. I have several questions, but I'll start slow lol. I want to figure out % in excel to start.
For example, I have a list of values (these are actual days) in column A.
5
5
5
6
6
6
7
8
7
7
9
9
I realize the 5 day values are 25% of the total, but I have a lot of data, and can't do this manually. What formula can I use to figure out the % of how many 5 (days), % of 6, % 7, etc in the lot of values?
In the next column I set up the % for those values.
I'll be back with other stuff I'm having a problem figuring out. But, this is helping me think through it!
Here's another one. Again, I'm trying to figure out days here. Maybe a little background would be helpful. I'm trying to get an idea how long a particular task takes in my group. I have dates (dates in and dates out). This task is supposed to take 5 days to complete max. Of course, we're all over the place. Sometimes it's 5 days, 6 days, 7 days, whatever.
The dates I have in excel look like this...
date in date out
20-Oct-09 / 27-Oct-09
I can't figure out how to subtract the date in from the date out. On top of that, weekends shouldn't be included aggghhhh! help.
Depends on the version of Excel you're running. I find I have to resort to multiple columns more often than not in the newer versions. I'll set one column as a countif and then use the count in an if then statement in another column. I'm sure there are probably easier ways but I just like to get things done.

Yea, I usually use many columns as well. And I have the % thing worked out.
Now, if you see my edit, I'm miffed with the date thing.
eta: ah, "networkdays" in excel removes the week days. Pretty cool.
