Well, we've already established that there is a double standard for teachers and other professionals.

I don't advise dating any 18 year old, but if you must, and you value your job, I would wait until the day after graduation. If you don't care about being fired, go for it.

Did someone say crazy? Do not be involved with any STUDENT in high school. Let them graduate and if for some bizzare reason you feel the need to have a relationship, you are both adults.

Years after I graduated, I found out one of my classmates ended up marrying a male teacher at our high school...not sure when it started or how long after graduation, but it is wierd to say the least.

Please note that this thread is from March of 2010 and the three posts from the OP are all on this thread. I highly doubt he is reading/posting anymore. Also guessing that the dating question is moot.

The prudent thing to do is wait until they graduate. If the relationship is meant to be, it will survive waiting 10 months tops.

why does being a teacher give new rules and laws that dont even exist.

lets see 22 year old teacher dating 18 year old high schooler = bad idea

22 year old fireman/self-employed worker dating 18 year old high schooler = no problem??

why not just make all students legally be minors??? doesnt the law say 17 is the age of consent and considered to be an adult
Who says everyone is on board with an 18 year old student dating a 22 year old, no matter what the circumstances?

I dunno, I had a HUGE crush on my HS AP A&P teacher, he was gorgeous!
But then again I am weird, I think grey hair on men is sexy.

I know quite a few guys (in HS) felt the same way about our music teacher she was 27 and a hottie.

Maturity, stability and sex appeal are subconcious thoughts in teenagers minds.

I think this thread has run its course education-wise.
