Default Nice...

Nice to see the Plaza in use; in the 70's when I went to Del Norte Elementary, I went to see the El Paso Symphony at the Plaza.. then several years later, my older brother took me to the Plaza to see Tod Rundgren and Utopia, their RA tour! HA! Second time I smelled pot being smoked was at the Plaza. First time was Electric Light Orchestra at the El Paso County Colesium. Not that this has anything to do with the Film Festival... just a memory sparked (no pun intended).

It seems a lot of people have similar stories and fond memories of the Plaza. The restoration was definitely a success. It gets used year round and not just for the film festival. At 2400 seats, it brings in a lot of acts that are too big for smaller venues but not big enough for The Don. Great success story.

And when the parking garage next door is complete, it will even better.

Quote:
They packed the Plaza Theatre on Aug. 15, a screening of Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" that sold out after 800 people bought their tickets at the box office that day. It was rare because Disney rarely allows its animated money-makers to be shown at festivals like this.

Makes me wish I we were already living there so I could participate. Alas, we won't be in town until August 29th.
