Just moving here and starting the MPA program at UTEP. I figured I would ask the locals.

What are the public policy issues that are of greatest concern to you?
Do you have any concerns regarding public policy in El Paso?

I ask only because while having in class discussions, I can't really participate. I don't know the town well enough to provide any insight on many of the situations.

Thanks for any help!

Assuming I understand "public policy" correctly:
- El Paso shows slow but steady growth despite the national economy - but despite a slow pace that should allow planning ahead we still have a laissez fair "public policy" that favors developers - no requirements for amenities/parks/school allowances and little to stop development on arroyos (affects run-off) or encroachment on the mountain
- no short or long economic development strategy for El Paso - no vision
- no long term environment/garbage strategy
- colonia development - the County allows unserviced residential subdivisions on un-assumed roads
- decisions made & public policy created through political payoffs and corruption - little say by career public servants (economists, urban planners, public administrators....) unless they are also on the take - no sense of stewardship

Perfect answer. Thank you so much. In doing a little digging I found a couple of these. Appreciate the answer!
