Service in El Paso tends to be slow.
This is due to the "manana" factor inherited by our neighbors.
Thus, one could call it the "mexican" way for sure.

This is probably true for all cultures in warmer climates throughout the world. The heat tends to make people move and sometimes think slower.

Hola Amigos! I don't live in EP and never will, but I spent three days in jail in Juarez in 1976 for something I didn't do (really). After the cops shook down my dad for 5 grand they let me out "sin charges" and I'll never forget how beautiful EP was as I was crossing the border back in to the US of F-ing A. It was like seeing Heaven!

Hehe, back in my dumb youth I'd party along the strip and that was my worst fear. I remember a few times seeing drunk guys duking it out in the street and the policia would whisk them away. <Shudder>

I left EP 16 years ago after graduation and stayed away. I miss family and friends and go back and visit when I get a chance. I miss the mountains and the food. Other then that there's not much else I miss.

Ironically, I considered moving back in April 2007 after the death of my mother and to get my daughter closer to family. Being from EP, hispanic, spanish speaking, and an experienced RN, I didn't think it would be too hard to find a job. Well I was wrong! I was met with severe resistance and those interviewing me where very rude and unprofessional. Needless to say I would be taking a significant pay cut if I was even offered a job there.

Staying in San Antonio was the best choice for me. I've been away too long and feel like I've outgrown the city. I don't hate EP. It's just certainly not for me.

Well i first moved to EP in the early 70's in Elementary School so i go back a ways with with her (Andress high grad). Although i currently live in Albuquerque and the economy is superior to El Paso....El Paso will always have my heart. I wish the economy was better and the property taxes lower as i know alot are struggling with those....but i really think there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Huge expansion at Ft.Bliss and new freeway projects even TXdot is taking bids on Loop 375 thru Downtown. The new Texas Tech medical school and major expansions at UTEP. Although taxes are high EP has some of the most new and Beautiful schools of any city i've ever seen including here in ABQ or when i lived in Jacksonville, Fl which have alot of very old looking buildings.

The new Resort out by the airport and also hopefully the Tiguas will get to build a Casino and Resort along with Sunland Park future expansions will be nice and even in todays paper about the Zoo is doubling in size.

I do wish it was more progressive and build a new 20,000 seat Arena and also a huge state of the art Amusement Park. If Oklahoma City can have the Ford Center (supersonics are moving there) and a Six Flags amusement park then EP needs to step up..

Anyway thats my thoughts about it good and bad and hope the best works out for El Paso....

Oklahoma is not secluded 6 foot 3. Its also on that super highway.. so it has reason to have such things.

the resort.. is a golf course. nothing more, right under the flight path.

Do you remember when the zoo was gonna have the water boat ride all abound it and the animals would be separated by this river.. too bad it never came to be. I love the San Antonio Zoo.

I too hope it will work out for El Paso, but I don't bet on it.

On a side note last night I went to the Wal Mart on Trans MT, #500, and 4 out of 5 employees I asked where Fly Swatters were could not speak English.

They are not as slow as Hawaii LOL We just spent 6 years there and LOVED every minute of it but they are very laid back "Aloha spirit" kind of people. It's a double edge sort of thing. We loved the laid back attutide but whenever you wanted anything done it took forever!
