From El Paso Inc.:

The El Paso Public Service Board has dropped plans for a retirement community in Northeast El Paso after hearing the findings of a consultant that concluded the project would fail.
The PSB, which oversees El Paso Water Utilities and controls thousands of acres of undeveloped city property, has been planning a retirement community next to Painted Dunes Golf Course since 2005.
But Paradigm Senior Living, one of the nation’s 10 top consulting and management companies in the field of adult communities, advised the board in a report delivered Wednesday that such a project would be doomed by its remote location and the lack of near-by medical services and amenities.

Well maybe if the city would have listened to the residents of northeast, they would have their hospital by now. That area though would be perfect for some sort if amusement park.

It's a tough call. Every single market study and ananysis says the NE I not a good spot for a hospital, retirement center, and / or mall.

I understand the lack of health-care and amenities, but I thought living on a golf-course was the dream of a retired person? Driving the golf cart from the house to the senior center and so forth.
