Those are all horrible names. The city is going to have a great new ballpark and then have a horrible sounding name that is weak.

Perhaps the fans should contact the GM everyday, multiple times to voice their displeasure with these horrible names. Let the GM know that you won't be purchasing any merchandise with these horrible names on it. The only way to get his attention is via the bank account.

Please click on the links and review the current AAA baseball team names. Some are pretty much "out there" compared to MLB names. This is all part of the marketing for the team. I still stick to my gut feeling that it will be the El Paso Buckaroos.

Here is a better list without all of the added info. BTW, the Tucson Padres are in 1st place in their division!

These names are, (excuse my french), f'ing stupid. Chihuahuas?! Seriously, lets stereotype this whole damn city why don't we? Gators? Can't remember the last time I saw a gator in the rio grande. Ardvark? I think the only thing that lives out in this desert are damn coyotes. Could have been a mountain lion but we ended up killing that one. Who the hell is on the naming committee? I seriously doubt these are the names people chose. If this doesn't show that money is the only influence to the naming of this team, I don't know what does.
Might as well name it the El Paso Polar Bears.

Season ticket prices (per game). At the gate will be more expensive. For example: an Albuquerque Isotopes Box Level season ticket costs $725 ($10 per home game) with a gate price of $15.

If you look closely at the upper left side of the official El Paso Triple-A website, you could see a Cowboy/Vaquero/Buckaroo in the red/white/blue logo.

El Paso Triple A Baseball | El Paso Texas Minor League Baseball | Name Your Triple-A Team Contest Rules

A Buckaroo is the anglicanized spanish word for "Vaquero", which means Cowboy.

Buckaroo is one of the top 5 choices that were given, along with Desert Gators, Aardvaks,Chihuahuas, Sun Dogs.

I think Buckaroo will be the official team name.

I dont know about you guys, but i like it.

If you look closely, alot of Triple A teams have very quirky fun names. Triple A teams are meant to be for the whole family, not just the adult male audience. I think its a unique name, way better than the generic Vaquero or Cowboy. It also reflects our Southwest culture.

Think about it, a Buckaroo mascot will be the hero of children, be buddies with guys , and be silly with women. Also, if there are cheerleaders, our young adult male audience will love them, we all grew up watching the football Cowboys cheerleading squad.

I like Buckaroo. I just found out, and i am pretty excited. I would actually go watch a game now.

and its WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the Tucson Padre mascot, which was just plain boring and dull.

Buckaroo, alright i'll follow.

I've been checking the US trademark site for "El Paso", "Buckaroos", "Sun Dogs", etc....
So far no trademark applications for the team.

The most recent applications are the top;

If you go back a few pages, this has been my guess all along. It's still not announced, but with all the clues I have seen this is my best bet. Looking forward to it!
