You have got to be kidding me! Totally not what I was expecting. As if El Paso did not have a "bean town" image, now they just add insult to, well, insult. Why not the El Paso Bulldogs then? They had to choose a tiny, yappy dog.

Can you see yourself with a team jersey that says 'Chihuahuas'?

Out-of-town teams probably will pronounce it Chee-hoo-a-hoo-a.

The SunDogs would have been an awesome, evocative name. The Chihuahuas is ridiculous and verges on offensive.

Sit boy!

Lay down boy!

Triple AAA names are usually goofy...but this is embarrassing. Huge marketing mistake. No one's going to want to buy a hat with a rat dog on it.

I have to say that I hated it too when I first saw the unveiling. It's slowly starting to grow on me though. I mean I still don't like it, and can see it being a bit offensive but if you look at it in playful way its not so bad. I know we don't live in Chihuahua but we do live in the Chihuahuan Desert so I guess theres a small link to our region and the name I guess.

What I find weird is that although most people in El Paso hate it, several sites and people across the internet (and not from El Paso) are actually liking it or even loving the new logo and team name. I've seen several people actually say that they would order new merchandise from the online team store. Hmmm, maybe we are just being too sensitive in El Paso?

And the Triple-A El Paso team will now be called ... - CBSSports.com

I don't know, I still think there were many better names out there that were passed on that would of represented us better. Oh well, I was thinking of cancelling my season tickets after this happened, but now I think I'll still give them a chance and support our team no matter what their name is.

For those that are curious to see our new logo and mascot, but are too lazy to google it JK... here it is:

The El Paso Chihuahuas

I actually like the actual art design of the logo, and I think it looks really cool.. I'm just not sure the team name fit us. But the logo and secondary logo's look nice IMO.

I really do like this secondary logo:

It pays homage to our parent club's older logo

Here are a few more of the logos:
