I'd love to live downtown... I've always been a fan of living in the most central location a city has to offer. If there was some sort of loft district or great downtown apartments I'd consider it. For now I have to settle with looking elsewhere as I plan to move to El Paso over the next month. Sounds like some really exciting stuff going on in the city. I hope to see the improvement and transition during my time there.

Well, we don't have a loft district (yet) but there still are some nice places in downtown proper and even more in the downtown area. One thing I've noticed is that apartment listings for the city really suck in that they rarely will list anything in this part of town. I will try to compile a list (possibly with contact info) to make it easier for those willing to give the area a shot. Here's one place that should be at the top of a potential downtown dweller's list, the union fashion lofts:

Exciting stuff going on in downtown El Paso. Sounds like I may be moving into town just as all this development kicks into high gear. And thanks for the link Holmes, sounds like some great stuff going on at the Union Fashion Clothing Building. I'll def have to keep an eye on what Wright & Dalbin do with that structure.

This article is old news, but they recently updated it with pics of the night foster announced his plans for this part of downtown. A few cool pics of the banner on the building, archive photos, & some of the movers and shakers who attended the little shindig..

Theres so much potential in downtown El Paso, I wonder has anyone gave it any thought about the Banner building, I think thats what it's called, it's the five story next to the the Kress building across from San Jancinto Plaza, that would make some nice lofts or senior citizen housing.

Slowly but surely, the ball starting to roll... construction, contruction... ALL over downtown, the federal courthouse, the plaza hotel, the mills building, the old international hotel... shout out and alot of respect goes to Paul Foster for caring enough for El Paso to invest his hard earneD money in the old Sun City.

As promised, here is a very short list of a few of the housing options for those seeking to rent in the general downtown area. Some of these places are within downtown proper, the majority are just north/northwest of downtown predominately in the sunset heights neighborhood. This is nowhere near the amount of places in the downtown area as I pretty much just focused on my neck of the woods and even then left out many other smaller buildings/duplexes/converted homes. However, it may set the stage for those who just might take a second look into moving to this area. I'll spread these out over the next several posts..
