How about some independent restaurants? That is what truly sets cities apart from one another. We are a haven for chains. Lets get more creative on the order of The Magic Pan or The Golden Buddah.

You are right. A few months ago I was in a town outside San Antonio -- and didn't feel like driving into eat at some chain -- just wanted a simple not very costly meal -- salad, sandwich or light dinner.

There was this little dive type diner -- pizzas and sandwiches. Excellent food. Just one of those places with about 6 tables -- but the food was so good. I'd go there all the time if we had something like that.

We had a Ruby's Tuesdays.. I think we still do on the West side. We had a TGIF, but as far as I know they all closed down here.

I wish we had a Zaxbys. I know SoutherBliss knows what that is.. =) I liked them better than the Raising Cains.

Never had Wards.. so I don't know if they would be well excepted here.

One thing they had all over was Waffle Houses.. wish we had one out in the North East side of town.. they were like Star Bucks in Seattle.. one on every corner.

Don't we have a Boston Market on the West Side?

White Castle would be nice.. but I don't think it think it would do well next to a whataburger. Texans think big.. not small.

a Twin Peaks could do well here I think..
