Thats cool, I'm glad you liked your experience there.

I keep saying that El Pasoans should really be proud of how nice our new downtown stadium is.. because it looks like its one of the best if not the best park in the minors.

I've gone to at least 6 games this year and can honestly say that getting in and out of downtown in my vehicle has been pretty easy. There are lots of parking spots, lots, garages that finding a parking spot has been trouble free for me. I live in Central EP, and getting to and from the game has usually taken me about 5 to 10 minutes every time, so I guess all that fuss about the traffic nightmares and finding parking was all about nothing really. I've also used I-10 and the Border Hwy a few times to get home and I'm happy to say its been smooth sailing so far.

Even more great press for our amazing stadium!

Renowned baseball stadium reviewer and owner of the website Baseballparks.com Joe Muck has come out with a full review of our new stadium and in his words calls it a "masterpiece".

Quote:
Now there is a ballpark in America's Southwest that is also an artistic triumph. Not only is there stained glass, sculptures and numerous paintings, its structure is a thing of beauty.

And it's not overstating things to say that it is a masterpiece.
IMO, Populous, the city and MountainStar Sports really hit a grand slam with the new stadium in so many ways.

I read that review, and it was really interesting. Included a lot of details that I hadn't noticed and will look for. Like how much of the architecture is meant to invoke the railroad, because of the Union Depot nearby.

Here is the review -- good reading: BASEBALLPARKS.COM, ballpark photos, reviews and rankings. Serving baseball fans since 1997.

Thanks VW! I meant to put the link in my last post, but I guess I forgot to include it.

Because Southwest University Park wasn’t ready, El Paso was forced to play its first four home games of the season away from home, in Tucson, in front of an average of 3,014 fans.

Unfortunately, those four games count as official home games, which currently place the Chihuahuas fourth in the 16-team Pacific Coast League attendance.

However, when figuring only the home games played at SUP, El Paso leads the league at 8,524 fans per game.
