How much and how often? I thought it was warm virtually year round?
No, it's not warm year round. It's cold in the winter. Snow is uncommon but the cold winters are a fact. In fact, around the beginning (and perhaps end) of winter, there are often hot day and cold nights. Getting lost out there during that time must be hell. I do notice there has been more rain in the last 5 years or so.

Actually El Paso has had around 11-12 inches of snow so far this winter 2009-2010. I believe we average around 5-6 inches each winter. It's not a lot of snow compared to other places, but it can be cold in El Paso. Btw has anyone noticed that in the past couple of years we have gotten a lot more moisture than before, even during the summer months.

The obelisk photo in message #77 is good for some trivia.
It is a marker to indicate the end of the Rockies.

You have a great day.

Cool Fact: The official Rocky Mountains actually end in Northern New Mexico. The Franklin Mountains is actually its own separate mountain range.

It is located on Rim Road. If you go up on Brown Street you will pass the YMCA. After the YMCA it will curve up the mountain. At the top of the curves you will get to I believe is a 5 way stop intersection. You then stay on the left on Rim Road. Not far from that intercection you will see a very little park on the left hand side. You can actually see the marker from the 5 way stop if you look to look straight and slightly to the left. The park is right above the El Paso High.

You have a great day.
