Ok. I am just wondering if it's a common practice to stop giving paper invoices to your clients by local businesses? I just had some repair work done for my AC unit and I was told that I will be emailed the invoice. Had to call them back the following day and gave my address to the employee as they didn't update my info in the system properly initially. Today had my pool motor replaced by a different local company and same story again. No invoice as they told my wife it willbe emailed to her. So I have to just write off a check to some random guy and expect them to give me proof of payment may be in the next few days if I get lucky enough not having to follow up with them. I wanted to know how much they charged for the motor and the labor as they couldn't provide me all the details through the phone. But now I have to wait for the email. I don't want to give my email to all local businesses and get spammed by them for the rest of my life just because they want to save money on paper.

No this is not common. I wouldn't pay until I got the bill. If they want their money they will mail you the bill.

Did you get a receipt when you paid?

That is not common nitynity. I would be careful if I were you. You should always get a receipt when you pay or at least be offered if you want it by mail or paper. Especially for a service that will be done in the future as they can just not service you at all and keep your money or overcharge you without you ever finding out.

I just talked to the pool guy and finally got the invoice. $525 plus tax for installing a pool motor. No details about the motor price or labor. I called him back for the details, he said I don't need to know the details, he is not obligated to tell me how much the motor was so I can lookup the price. I said I need to know since I paid for it, then he said ok in that case $525 for the motor and $0 labor. What kind of rip off business is this if he has to pull this kind of scheme? By the way the company is 1st Rate Pool Service inc. in garland.
