Does anybody know if some of the hundreds of Katrina victims that came to El Paso decided to stay here?

I think it is a beautiful place, but I have not enjoyed living here. I miss my family and it has been very hard to make new friends. The culture is different, not bad, but not home. It is hard for me to cook, I can't find andouille sausage in the stores, and I miss Mardi Gras. The weather is great, but there aren't very many good jobs. For me, it has been a depressing experience. We are on the West Side.

P.S. And the taxes are outrageously out of sight. It is a pretty expensive place to live.

Since my business was wiped out and my husband's company left the state, we will be here for some time to come. Two years later and it still feels like a nightmare to be awakened from.
