This will be interesting. They estimate late 2017 opening. Unfortunately, we will be leaving El Paso this fall and will not see this become reality.

We are most likely moving to Phoenix, we probably will not come back to El Paso to visit as we do not have many friends here and no family. It's been great living here on the west side, IMO, it's the best part of town.

I think this shopping center will bring a lot of traffic to the area. That along with the hospital at Resler and 375 will bring a lot of traffic in. I like riding my bike along those areas as it was somewhat low traffic.

I live out that way and am kinda excited about this. Was wondering where all of those doctors, nurses, technicians and patients/families were going to eat near the new hospital. With the Cheesecake Factory rumor from the fall, you can hope that this will draw that restaurant to El Paso...and perhaps also the In n Out as well. I am concerned about traffic on surface streets...all of the development north of Helen of Troy has already created traffic going to central and downtown.

As a transplant who has lived here almost a decade, I am pleased with the development. When I first arrived, the city seemed sort of blah. But as I read somewhere else, the addition of businesses (yes, even chains) projects a city willing to draw people here and keep folks who may otherwise consider leaving, if they have a choice to leave.

I suspect the 180,000+ sqft anchor shown will be yet another Walmart, as the Mesa St. Walmart is small and old compared to the east side Walmarts, and the image shows a classic Walmart Superstore shape (but could just be the developer's hope). Conns Furniture says they are going in at this intersection but may be on the parcel south of this development where Dick Poe was going to go before the 2009 recession. "Major Anchor I" at 60,000 sqft is closer to a large grocery store/Albertsons size.

"West Towne Marketplace will feature a large grocery anchor, big
box sporting goods and soft goods retailers, along with a movie
theater, specialty retail stores and signature restaurants."

About a year ago, the wife and I were looking at the houses northwest of Resler and 375. The seller came and told us that a Wal Mart would be built in the area. He didn't specify exactly where or when, though.

I know a while back a Costco on the west side was mentioned. I think cheesecake factory will be here by 2017. That hospital is a game changer for the west side. I'm excited

Costco would be fab. Just bought a membership, even though I'm not close to the one at Basset, because of the optical department. Bought new glasses which had all the same features, but half the price of my last several pairs.

That's some pretty bland-looking development. Never understood why developers build these massive parking lots that won't get 100% full even on Black Friday.
