Lived there for 3.5 years, the longest I've been at a duty station.

Many life changes for me while I was there and EP will always be a part of me:

1. Our daughter was born at Providence Memorial last year. She's over a year old now:

2. Though my wife and I have been together for 10 years, we didn't get married until we were stationed at Fort Bliss. We didn't marry in EP, we married back home in Chicago but the drive back from Chicago to EP was a great story for her to tell.

3. Many great food places, I always tell people about Cattleman's, L&J and Maracas. Change for Maracas is the owner sold the business, new owner is keeping the staff and not changing anything. Why mess with success?

4. Bad drivers. I have plenty of funny stories to tell.

5. Great weather year round. I'm going to miss the hot and dry weather. We moved to Florida so we're going to see rain.

6. Met some great people there. Found a great MMA school to train at.

7. Going to miss the elevation and hills/Transmountain for bike riding. It wasn't easy with those combination but I felt it tested me physically. Factor in the hot weather and it was an even bigger challenge. Riding Transmountain on a 103 degree day was a great test of will power.

8. I don't think the young Soldiers at Bliss know how good of a post Bliss is and how EP is pretty good for a military town.

Even though my parents live in L.A., if we visit, we will fly. The drive through the Texas portion of I-10 was about half the drive. Unless I get 3 weeks of vacation a year, I don't see myself driving. I don't see us coming through EP again.

We lived in a great neighborhood on the west side off of Resler near Franklin HS. It was nice and quiet there. Not sure I would've stayed in EP if given the choice. We are from a big city and we like the big city things which EP just didn't offer.

Army Guy, you left and I still owe you a beer and a range day! Good luck with life and congrats on the new baby. Stop by and see us once in a while (even if it's virtually).
