Generally considered to the "Father of El Paso",de Leon was a wealthy Mexican rancher and merchant who was granted land north of what is now present day Juarez. However can someone out there, anyone, reveal where exactly in Mexico was he from. There is scant amount of information of him online, but since this is El Paso maybe the locals know more of him than anywhere else in the nation.
Peace and thanks.

From what I recall, he was a Spaniard, not a Mexican. It may not matter to most, but tell a Spaniard that they are Mexican, and move out of the way! I know, my wife is from Barcelona!

You're thinking of the conquistador.Juan Maria Ponce de Leon was a rancher of El Paso del Norte, although may have been a descendant as de Leon(the conquistador) has many descendants all over Latin America.
