TRANSLATION..

I would ride my bike to work, but I dont want to be run over by some jackass from Mexico who happens to not have car insurance, kill me, flee back to Mexico, and my death goes unpunished.

Well maybe Karma will play a role, since our teens have a bad habit of getting drunk and running the Undocumented over as well.. only thing is they get punished by our law system.

I wonder if the cars from the Flintstones would work? Maybe a kinetic motor, everyone peddles some then you get to ride of the kinetic for a while then everyone peddles again.. would be a nice way to get around with the family.

Those don't look like they'd be very hard or expensive to make yourself.

I think what stops most people from riding bicycles, mopeds, electric scooters, and carts is the fact that there's no good place to go on them, you can't ride motorized vehicles on sidewalks, yet the drivers here are horrible.

You simply would not last long riding something small along the roads here.

Those are cool "bikes" but their more suited for recretional use than, everyday travel. I would take forever to go from work, [by butterfield trail] to the sportsplex on Zaragoza to take my son to his baseball games!

Here in Sycamore, IL on my trip through town gas was $3.95. Yesterday Rockford, IL was at $4.10.

One thing I believe that will happen if the oil companies are left unchecked and gas does get to $7-8 per gal, there will be fewer cars on the road. Not just fewer cars but fewer LARGE cars. That means the roads will become somewhat safer for econo-boxes like the ForTwo. My only beef with a car like this is 40mpg. My 95 Saturn does 36 and it's a sedan. Going to have to get way better than that to get my money.

I'll stick with my plan of building my own car. Way cooler and more the kind of mpg I'm looking for. I will admit I don't believe this car can produce the claimed 200 mpg the site claims but I'll settle for 75.
