Medicare rates hospitals, here's EP https://www.medicare.gov/hospitalcom...g=-106.4869314

FOUNDATION SURGICAL HOSPITAL OF EL PASO is rated 5 of 5 stars.

There are several rating systems, and they're all over the map, no consistency.

But several of the other hospitals in EP do rate pretty low. Sadly, it's a more and more common trend nationwide. In many places healthcare is going down hill.
Several friends misdiagnosed. Many medication errors by nurses here. My dh was admitted to ER with chest pain. Had 99 % blockage, 95%blockage and 40% blockage in arteries of heart. In ER they gave him a shot of blood thinner. I don't remembervif it was coumadin or Warfarin. Then brought him to room in ICU and a nurse came in and said, I need to give you a shot. (To dh). I asked what it was and she named same shot he was just given in ER. I told her they just gave it to him in ER. She looked at her computer, then said she would be back. She left, and when she came back, said "never mind".
Then my mom was given an antibiotic that has a side effect of knocking out the tubules to kidneys. She had a physical a month earlier and was in really good shape. 3 days after taking AB she was too weak to be able to get out of a chair. Back to dr, ran bloodwork, and called TWO days later telling me to get her admitted to ER, that she was in acute kidney failure. While in hospital, she got ascites, and they put her on lasix (diuretic, that also lowers blood pressure). Twice during a month long stay, the nurses came in after having just done vital signs where her blood pressure was low (96/68, and 98/69), and told me they were there to give her meds...one was a high blood pressure pill. I told them no.
Then when they went to put a permacath in so she could do outpatient dialysis, i think they nicked her heart as she wentbinto A Fib, that took them 3 hrs to correct (she'd had 2 ecg's in last month and i was told her heart was really good, especially for an 80 yr old), was unresponsive the next day for about 8 hrs. Was told they didnt think she would survive dialysis due to heart, so brought her home into hospice, and she died 11 days later.
Gave my husbands aunt a med she had severe allergic reaction to and she almost died. They changed her floor, and new nurses gave same med and she died about 3 days later.
They did stent on a friend's husband, but forgot to stitch him up, and covered him with blanket in recovery. His wife noticed he wss turning gray, and reached for his hand, and moved cover and bed was soaked in blood. He would have bled out if she hadnt found it.
Several other stories from friends and people i know.
