Just when I think we are getting some upscale retail , they close. The EP Inc. stated over the weekend that Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn were closing at Outlet Mall. They did say that West End in Fountains at Farah was still open . I guess there wasn't enough traffic. It had only been open a year or so. Of course, I didn't buy much there so I guess I am to blame. UGH

I think it was a bad location. People go to the outlet mall for deals not upscale. It would have done great at the fountains

Yes you can't call it an outlet and then have retail prices. People go to outlets looking for deals.

The Fountains would have been ideal. I am not sure why their R&D and Market Studies led them to the Outlett.

I'm really sad about this. I went to PB & WS a lot--they were a great addition to that mall, which is near me. PB did have some good deals, compared to their catalog, although I didn't think WS had that great of sales.

So . . . very sad.

West Elm at the Fountains is way too expensive, and I think the MCM trend has peaked and is going downhill anyway. Plus, it's pretty out of the way for me.

Both stores were Outlet stores, hence their location in an outlet mall. That being said, both stores (but especially the Pottery Barn outlet) were more like the very last leftovers that no one wanted from all of the other Outlets around the country that they just dumped off here in El Paso. I am a frequent shopper at both Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn online and my first trip to the Outlet stores was a huge disappointment. I visited only once more a couple of months later to give them both a second chance, but the merchandise was nothing of interest.

I heard they were closing (and a few other stores such as armani) because the rents were increased. So they some tenants decided to leave.

Every Sports Authority I ever went to (around the country) was sad looking, full of uninterested staff. It kind of looked like K-Mart, you never knew how they are still open and how they stayed in business, given the way the stores looked and the employees acted...
