I know this is an El Paso forum, but I wanted to talk a little bit about our sister city's new planned arena. Now that the Indios have made it to the big time in their soccer league..they will be building a new $110 million stadium/arena that will be home to the Indios and will also attract many "international acts." It is expected to be one of the best and most modern stadiums in Latin America when it gets built.

I am almost sure that if the World Cup ever returns to Mexico, Indios Arena will be one of the stadiums where some of the games will be played at. This would be huge for Juarez and El Paso. Maybe we will see some USA vs Mexico games soon being played in this area...now that this awesome arena will be built in Juarez.

Indios Arena
Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
36,000-40,000 capacity (400+ luxury suites)
To be built by summer 2010
It will be a dome stadium

Much of Juarez is modernizing itself at a fast rate, its just too bad that there is such a bad drug war going on over there, but this Indios Arena and their team making it to the first division of the Mexican soccer league is such a great thing for our neighbors to our south.

They need to build that near Downtown El Paso.. maybe tear down the make shift homes there people see on the west side just past Downtown and build that arena.. That would be an awesome sight to see.. would give great access to it both from El Paso and Juarez.. and would improve the economies of both regions... as well as remove an eye sore there now. Then maybe as we improve our Downtown and they build this.. it will all mesh making us more one in appearance.

EDIT: It looks like a very nice stadium.. I hope it gets built. Thanks for posting this Chuco.

Very nice stadium, I only hope Indios could stay in 1st division more than a year... The mexican soccer competence system is really bad for the newly promoted team.

Regards...

Wow, that looks like it'll be a beautiful place once it's built. I guess I need to get out in the world more. I had no idea they had such fancy buildings in Mexico except along the resort areas.

You're welcome fellas!

I hope El Paso gets something like this one day too, but I would be happy with a really nice arena downtown..although it will probably be a lot smaller.

Holy S_it, they're building that?!? Looks like the Emirates Stadium of Chihuahua and will be comparable to any stadium in Europe. Though, like antgar suggests, getting into La Primera Division is one thing, but staying with the big boys is a whole other matter. I hope they're not getting ahead of themselves.

That is an amazing stadium! It is cheap to build in Juarez, they are going to build a new 12,000 seat arena hotel here in Downtown ABQ for almost $400 million. They are going to get 35-40,000 seats for a mere $100M? That is terrific.
