Now let's hope that the rest of downtown will keep up. I know in downtown San Jose CA, they did a lot of development and it resembled downtown ELP in many ways. It was a struggle in the beginning, including a mall type business area (which failed-the Pavilions) and the rebuilding of hotels (very nice ones I may add). It was the type of area that vacated at night, but the addition of a sports arena (for the Sharks) and more nightclubs and restaurants I believe have brought the area back.

Just like ELP, they have a large university in the middle, folks who seemed to be happy with a run-down environment, a business worker population who left at night, and some old buildings that were architecturally interesting but abandoned. I am glad that ELP is attempting to move forward and bring some life to its center, which, like many other cities lost that to the 'burbs. Hopefully if the Fountains comes through there will be enough to go around with the re-development of downtown.

I hope a nice upscale restaurant and bar.. that would be sweet.

I wish El Paso would get one of them Needle towers like in Seattle.. or San Antonio.. and I think even Dallas has one too.

Funny you said that Albuquerque's Double Tree has a blue light treatment.

Here is a picture of what the original concept of the Double Tree was supposed to look like. Looks like it has changed only a little bit.

Moderator cut: comment I think the Lighting you showed would be rather cool there along the freeway here in El Paso on our Double Tree Hotel.

Why Not Orange and Blue? But maybe only on game days.. that would be a great support message, and reminds us locals that the MINERS are in da house! That with the bank next to it with the big UTEP in its window lights.. wow talk about a cool scene.

(note to Bowie - Thank You )

Here is a more clear image of what ours could look like.. I may work up a Photoshopped image to give an idea of what ours could look like as suggested.

Muhnay--- I think you have a good idea about the lighting, I would like to see that-- you should mention that to someone there.
