Many eyesores are now being looked at by the city to be revitalized. Incentive packages will likely go to businesses looking at revitalizing areas such as Alameda St, Northpark Mall, and other areas.

The Northeast needs a mall, so maybe a nice upscale mall, even if its not that big.. going up in place of the Northpark Mall would be huge for the Northeast.

Thanks for posting the informative video Chuco. I cant believe some on the County Commision still aren't sure how they'll vote .

Estella Casas still looks nice after these last 20 years of being a Newsanchor in El Paso .

That story does not say they are going to, but rather that RESIDENTS in the North East would like to see the same deal extended to developers for NorthPark mall. or did I miss read that story?

AHH so its ot a done deal for the Farrahs Fountains. If the commissioners court say NAY to the 4 million then the deal is off. Well What I suggest they do is tell them to build that Fountains Shopping Center here in the NORTH EAST where North Park Mall is. We need a good mall/shopping center, and sense most of the Military will be right down the road from that location, I think it would do bang up business.

Nope, its just a plan that even Mayor Cook is talking about on the video link that I posted. The city would likely offer incentive packages to business that are willing to help renovate areas such as Alameda st and Northpark Mall.

It's not a 100% deal as of yet, since they still have to ask the county for $4 million in incentives as well. During the city council, they said that they don't know what will happen if the County says "no" to them. The Hawkins/Regency Group as they are called, said that they would look at their options to see whether they could build it or not without the County's help.

My gut tells me that this is a done deal whether the County helps them or not. They already got the $8 million in incentives from the city, so I doubt that they will back out of it.. but who knows...

I don't know about that. Northeast is kind of far out there in relation to the rest of El Paso, Northpark might not be a big enough space to build on that scale, and the Farah location is almost dead center in the middle of the city. Plus I can't wait to see that eyesore of a building gone. A decent Basset-scale place at Northpark, with maybe a nice IMAX theatre to draw people from outside the Northeast area, would be great.

Oh they can always build up.. I would love to see a 4-5 story mall like Basset sitting where NorthPark is now.. And dont think NorthEast wont support it either.. because they will, and hell were getting so many new houses out this way and most of the new soldiers will be out here so It would be a benefit to them to have a mall on their way to work each day.

I really don't know about that. I am not a northeast basher by any means. But I have my doubts of the NE supporting a mall south of TM.

There really is no "what if" in this topic. If NE could support Northpark Mall then it wouldn't be in the shape it is now.

If a mall is going to survive in the NE is has to be north of TM and probably off of Patriot Freeway.
