Needing documentation just short of mug shots and finger prints to enroll is just one point in debating how bad the problem actually is. I have seen one or two license plates from Mexico in the school parking lot and that's makes me wonder, but doesn't really prove much.

The fact that some schools do not have a proper gym nor art nor music classes should embarrass the citizens, parents, school admin, of EP. Those things are needed for a balanced education and experiences. Those aren't extras, they are part of the basics and for the amount of school taxes paid, it's shocking to me that schools are lacking and over crowded. Hard to believe it's the best that can be done.

The lack of money for anything but Spanish speaking classrooms and free lunch and breakfasts, the overcrowded portable buildings are the evidence.

There are far far more children in our schools than our own population would indicate, certainly far more than the taxpayers can properly support. The fact that it's an incredibly time consuming and inefficient process to get a student registered doesn't mean a thing at all. In the end they allow they phony records to be used, they accept the faked utility bill statements and the excuses that their landlord pays the electric, gas and water bills so that they have no proof to bring.

All they have to do is use an El Paso address and they're in. If you want to see the evidence just check what's coming across the bridges every morning.

I don't understand how these kids going to be able to cross over into El Paso once passports are mandated (long overdue!). It's amazing how a particular people keep making babies their not able to support. I wonder if the mayor, John Cook is doing anything about the tax situation.

Hell no.. besides Mayor cook has no real power, we have a city manager that takes care of all that, while Mayor Cook makes public appearances and shakes hands and kisses babies.

they need a mexican passport to enter, and i don't know what the laws are in mexico. you can certainly come to el paso every day to visit, i don't think that's illegal. certainly many of the girls at loretto live in juarez and go to school in el paso every day. (which is allowed i am sure, it is a private school)

The Principle at my daughters school told me this week that they have over 50 kids that have to have live ins to take care of them because they were born here but the families are Mexico Citizens and cant live here, so the school system has to make accommodations for these students. So thats what some of your funding for our public schools does, it houses and feeds kids who were born here by Mexican parents who cant stay here to support them.. so we do.

You do not need a social security number to enter the school system. You can make a false one up, without giving a copy, change your name every year to some varience of the name i.e. using middle name as last name etc. and scream "disrimination" if you are questioned. Tick migrant on the free/reduced lunch forms and you are in.
