Hey everyone! Found out last week I'm being stationed at Bliss. I've been in the military for 21 years and never really paid attention to the base because there has never been a unit there that had my type of job. I'm from D/FW, the time for a new assignment was coming so I asked for anything in Texas. When I was told Bliss I asked what was there for me and was told a new unit was starting up. Then I heard about the expansion going on. Looks like it will be pretty crazy. Anyway, I'm into outdoor stuff, especially cycling, so I think it will be pretty cool. And I can't wait to have Texas license plates on my cars again after all this time

Thanks, I will. I'm doing some searching so I won't ask things that've been asked a hundred times. I'm currently working at Princeton ROTC in the United Socialist Republic of N.J. and land of 50 year old shacks that cost 250K I started looking at house prices in El Paso and got a big smile on my face. Just need to figure out what areas I need to be looking at. I'd like to live by the mountains so I can hop on my bike out the door and go riding. I'm single and I'm hearing the scene isn't real great but I guess we'll see haha

Welcome! I tried to PCS here, but even with my alleged urgent need MOS there were no positions in all of TX. Since I wanted to live with my husband for the first time in 3 years, I opted to ETS. Glad it worked for you though. I second what the others have said. Look at the NE side near Transmountain. I always see cyclists there and on Scenic Drive. We like Ft Bliss. No help on the single front from me either. I can have my hsuband ask some of his single soldiers, but they are mainly pretty dorky and I doubt they have that much game.

The house prices aren't bad -- especially if you don't need much of a yard. There are all kinds of single women in El Paso, the single scene is fine, and their mothers will usually babysit the kids.

LOL, that just struck as being quite funny. I don't know why
