this is a feed off thread from another one posted, but i know when i was young, anybody with some jordans and 10.00 worth of lunch money in my standards were rich, now paul foster to me is rich. In a more realistic point of view, if your house is paid off, you got 2 nice cars and you can afford to take a nice vacation once or twice a year, and afford to help out your kiddos, your not rich, but living comfortably atleast!

Default Being considered rich is relative...

Being considered rich is a relative thing, and not a rich uncle! It has to do with what you compare against. Recently after picking up my daughter up at school, she asked me if we were rich. I was puzzled, and asked her why she wanted to know, or more importantly, why she was asking.

She said some friends told her that we (our family) was rich. Funny, no one ever told me! Her friends have less than we do, I don't know their circumstances, but chances are the kids base this on what they see, not what they know.

I myself can't complain, and thought I was doing great until I started to travel to the middle east on business and saw how those sheiks, and their families live. It puts anything I've seen, including Vegas, including LA, San Francisco and New York to shame. I considered myself poor after witnessing that lifestyle, so as I say, it's relative.

My pet possum Alex would have been considered rich. He always wore a nice coat, ate salmon steaks with lemon several times a week. He had kids to attend to him, no enemies, and didn't directly have to worry about GWBush and other idiots in government.

Foolish answer?? .... Foolish thread... one can define rich by economic standards or whatever but what's rich in EL Paso is no different than what's rich in other cities. IF you really want an answer and don't mind doing a bit more work than posting a thread, go to the El Paso Central Appraisal district site. Anyone with a home assessed at over $1 million who has owned it a few years would probably qualify.

I also agree that it is relative. I mean, there are NFL players that still have to go to GNC on the first Tuesday on the month to get the 20% discount. They are rich compared to me but are poor compared to some of their team mates.

To me being rich means you do not have to worry.
I am far from that!!!
My son ask me if we were rich and I said no, he told me that one of his friends at school said we must be rich because he has to pay for his lunch at school!!!!!I thought that was to funny, but it just shows us a little bit of how kids feel about what is rich.

What is rich in El Paso? Hmm...

How about a nice house on Rim Rd with nice furniture, a beautiful pool in the back, a Mercedes or the equivalent in the driveway with everything paid for, and a job making a solid 6 figures.

yup thats rich

but yes my kids have told me on more than 1 occasion that there friends considered them rich, just because my teenaged daughter wears like hollister, abercrombie and had more than 1 pair of nice tennis shoes. Only thing they dont know is alot of parents are in debt up to their ears trying to keep up with teenage fashion trends lol.
