I would guess at least half of those are in the NE part of town. The more diverse part of town but I don't live there. There are some Chinese restaurants on the West Side and East side too -- I think.

Anywhere is fine, the city ain't that big, and you can make it pretty much from end to end in 35 minutes.

Wherever you find the house you like, but I like the west side better

So what? Would you be unable to get to the NE if you wanted to eat one of those restaurants?

Xpat: BTW I forgot to mention that the best & most authentic Asian I've eaten in EP were restaurants in NE EP where EP's highest number of Asian expats tend to reside.

One more question (if you don't mind)...

Which part of town has the best air quality (in terms of smog and allergens)?

Thanks!

I would say NE. East and West are closest to Mexico and the lack of any Air Quality enforcement, not to mention more traffic on the freeways on I10 and the many businesses. East Side and West side also have huge Manufacturing areas.. and the Air Port.

The NE is quite removed from all that, has the mountain to help protect it and the nice winds off that mountain to clear it away.

Sure, but why not consider living in the NE part of town if you're looking for diversity. Muhnay asks a fair questions -- why not the NE? The OP said he was looking for diversity and the NE seems to have the most diversity, although maybe the West Side has more Indian restaurants. The view of the mountains from the NE is spectacular and if you're looking for outdoor activities which here is hiking, the Franklins have that -- without having to drive far.

I think the reasoning of east or west without considering the northeast might be because many years ago the northeast was mostly considered military and the neighborhoods pretty much all looked the same. I lived in the northeast 20 years ago when I first moved to El Paso and after one year moved to the east side because I liked the type of homes and the general feel of the area at that time. I mean no disrespect to the northeast side of town as it is totally different now but I think Expat might just have a shaded opinion based on what used to be the northeast.

Folks, as I said in an earlier post - I was just trying to figure the East-West piece out first before thinking about subsections of east or west. I don't have a shaded opinion of the NE, I don't have any opinion of it. Its been many years and I look forward to taking a look at it (along with other areas).

Thanks to all!

Default Xpat

There ya gooo....all have given 'their' personal opinion

Read's like Me, Myself and I ...

If you've lived in El Paso and enjoyed the City, contemplating a return, would most likely ask Family or Friend's here if any.

El Paso has grown not only largely, but extensively. No telling what it may be like when you decide to relocate. All, I hope will be good.

West side is braching out toward's New Mexico and East El Paso has brached out beyond Horizon

Take a week or two, explore and see your obtion's, google all your interest's...Web is not personal, unlike some here..

If you should decide to return, Welcome back and good luck
