I just read in the Albuquerque Journal newspaper that Mayor Martin Chavez already has a list of infrastructure projects totalling 1.6 billion for President Elect Obama's stimulus plan when he takes office. So has Mayor Cook or Congressman Reyes prepared a plan for El Paso infrastructure needs so other cities don't take our fair share as i'd love to see I-375 completed thru Northeast from Rushing to the Patriot Freeway if i had a say. Hint....hint....for any El Paso/Texas DOT government official possibly reading this.

Lp 375 from rushing to US-54 is slated to begin in 2010, so i doubt that it would be used for that.

El Paso really needs to invest in public transportation. Right now is the time for this. It can start off with a Light Rail system downton towards utep and down montana. BRT is not the way to go. I just moved from el paso to boston. Here in boston they have the silver line, a BRT line. Its a total failure.

Denver has a nice LR system. It's used alot. I think a Rail system of some kind the runs along at least the 2 main freeways would be a good investment.

but it cant just be small stations along the freeway, large garages need to built to handle the traffic. I think placing the rail lines on already existing lines would be better. for example the rail lines that go near alameda in the lower valley, the northeast has them on Railroad, the airport can be served by the lines that go under the edgemere bridge near the new gecu building. the westside can be served by the lines that run parallel to doniphan. A new set of tracks can be placed on the border on montana and ft bliss. All would connect downtown at a central station served by buses.

I read in the ABQ Journal today 12-13-08 that the state of New Mexico and Gov Richardson has a 1.8 billion list for interstates, water and school construction projects all across the state ready to submit to Obama.
