No thanks!! I prefer sunshine to higher wages. Higher wages might be nice, but what's the point if they have to be used toward heating bills.

I agree man! I actually was thinking today when I was out driving my hubbys truck in the white stuff, how I will not miss that! I am scared but excited about this move. I'm just glad that when we were down there checking it out, that I really got a good feeling about ELP. I really don't have much of a choice though, so I might as well be happy.

you guys ready for temps in the mid 80's next couple of days. Even the rest of the week will be well into the 70's. Unbelievable.

If you haven't lived in the desert before, you need to prepare yourself a bit for the summer. Have PLENTY of iced tea at all times. No sugar added of course. Stay hydrated. It's all mind over matter when it comes to the heat here. The sun at times will feel a bit scorching until you've acclimated yourself to it. This is definitely the sun city. Definitely a great outdoors kind of place.

I've lived here for over 30 years and I'm still not used to the heat. LOL! Doesn't help that I burn at the drop of a hat either.

It is so funny when we DO have an overcast day. My house looks so different with cloud cover - it's a novelty of sorts! El Paso's weather is truly amazing to me -- most every single day is absolutely gorgeous. The heat of last summer was more than tolerable for us. There is no humidity. It's such a cliche. But if you're used to hot, sticky, steamy summers you'll so enjoy the dry heat of desert living. Shade, a pool, and an air conditioned space when you want it and you have a little slice of heaven, IMO.

The utitility bills are another topic. It's so odd for it to be "winter" and not to have the furnace clicking on almost constantly. There were days last summer when the air conditioning didn't kick on until after 3:00 pm and then it only ran for a little while until the sun went down. There were many days you could just open windows and doors if it wasn't too windy.

The weather definitely helps in overlooking some of EP's other shortcomings.

The only complaint I really have about the weather here is the wind. Since I live in the NE....we get some nasty gusts. If it's winter, the gusts are like ice hitting you and if it's a hot day in the summer it's like a blowdryer. Other than that.....it's pretty sweet. I am looking forward to it warming up. I'm taking the kiddos to Vegas in March and I'm just hoping that the weather is nice and warm. I'm praying that the winds stay away because I'll be flying......and I have this tremidous fear of flying.

Actually, I think there was a tornado warning around the time OK was hit.

One of the worst things that can happen here is a hurricane. El Paso is the most vulnerable city in TX for one of these. Back in Aug 2006, we had one that caused so much damage, some areas are still not back to normal. If you ever want to know how important drainage is to a city (which we don't have), stick around when we have another hurricane.
