Here's the results of yesterday's mayors race as Mayor John Cook wins against 4 challengers with 61% of the vote to be re-elected as El Paso Mayor.

Cook 61%
Haddad 28%
Rivera 6%
Catucci 3%
Henderson 2%
Mendez 1%

Does the lack of posts about his victory mean some of us aren't pleased? LOL Less than 10% of registered voters even voted in this election. What does that say?

This guy doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything about the extremely high property taxes we are forced to pay...

1979 - you are spot on! Property taxes are getting absolutely ridiculous. TX is one of the few states that puts the brunt of property taxes on homeowners, rather than commercial businesses. We've been here a long, long time but ever increasing property taxes may well drive us right out of town. Too bad, too sad, you know.

Voter apathy my friend - voter apathy. When less than 10% of registered voters even show up to do their civic duty, I hardly see this re-election as a victory.

Absolutely true. And not to sound too negative, but the intellectual level of the people here in EP isn't too well-rounded you might say...
