When people post that they like the food at Carlos and Mickeys is that some kind of local joke, or a trick to play on newcomers?

Carlos and Mickeys is plain Jane, but I have no problems with the food or atmosphere.

Mesa St Inn! Seriously the best steaks I have ever eaten. Gone back numerous times just to make sure, and yup, great every time. I get the steak diane and it's honestly my favorite dinner ever. My bf got the beef wellington which was incredible but they stopped making it. The avocado fries are a great appetizer and try a French Martini-super sweet and just one will knock you out! Nice classy atmosphere and quiet, never crowded.

now i'm just curious what "american" food is because other than hot dogs and burgers, i can't think of anything else american (bbq is it's own category)
Pizza is American, fried ocra, grits to name a few lol

La Tierra Cafe it has really good innovated food, great salads and on the lighter side. 1731 Montana Avenue El Paso, TX 79902

Ardavino's desert crossing, out in Sunland park. I love their gourmet pizza's.
