Alot of military own homes. We've owned 2x (currently owning in Hawaii)and since they took the military housing to PPV (private companies) more military are taking their BAH and buying. We'd be buying in El Paso if DH was going to be there longer than 9 months but we'll settle for a rental this time around

I think the military coming could have helped the housing market but the speculators moved in first and the taxes have gone up to impossible levels with reappraisals --- I believe now they're going to price the military families out and we could be in for some problems.

I agree. I still own a house in EP and just got my "appraisal" in the mail, I was shocked. I think it's time to sell and cut all ties with EP.

I hear you! We are thinking about moving into a bigger house in El Paso but at the same time we are considering moving to the Weatherford/Fort Worth area. I've looked at houses in the El Paso Eastridge area and I know how much they paid for these houses. It is just ridiculous.

Probably a good time right now to sell in El Paso

I'm staying put for right now

Well I mentioned before that my mom lives in that house so as much as I wish I could sell, I can't right now, not without putting my mom out on the street. Oh well, just grin and bear it I guess.
