K9 units were going classroom to classroom today. Asking kids to leave the room & leaving their backpacks behind while they searched. At lunchtime there were 2 cop cars & an SUV out front- all with kids in the backseats.

I wonder how many drugs were found. Sounds like they've got a problem in that school.

This always happens. My friend at another school is regularly telling me about drug busts. Some schools don't even have lockers anymore and the dogs go around the parking lot.

Can you imagine the uproar if they did this to a building full of adults? Tell them to gather out in the parking lot and leave their stuff behind while the cops go through the place with dogs?

This is NOT uncommon for those large businesses that have employee-only parking lots. I worked for a company that regularly conducted drug searches on THEIR premises. Employee locker rooms and the vehicles in the parking lot were the main targets of such searches because they were the least disruptive to ongoing business activities. It wasn't only drugs that were forbidden on company property - firearms were also a cause for instant termination, even if one planned to go hunting right after work and had a rifle or shotgun in their vehicle. Concealed carry permits are NOT honored on company premises - as one lady found out when a pistol was found in her purse and she was instantly fired.

I'd just as soon they do this - the taxpayers are paying a lot of money for those schools and they don't need to be turned into places for drug dealers to make their deals. Try bringing a gun into a workplace or school even if you're an adult and a lot of businesses do drug testing on employees.

Yeah, well, that never happened to me and I never heard of such a thing happening, so color me naive.

These sweeps are done at all the schools on a routine basis, even at the middle schools. Franklin doesn't have more of a drug problem than the other high schools, you just happened to see this sweep,
