it's a strip mall, what kind of ambiance does one get by taking their date to a strip mall?

it's not a strip mall. It's a fully developed mall. I think it's a good first or second date opportunity -- walk around, window shop, talk about stuff, go to places to eat, people watch, buy ice cream . . .

that would not be appropriate, I agree.

But early dates are harder -- dinner and a movie? first you sit in the dark with a person you don't know and then sit across from each other and attempt to make conversations. Far better to have something to do (walk around) which doesn't require forced stares, and things to do -- hey, let's check out the bungee jumping, or get an ice cream, or . . . go to Petco and coo over the puppies. Much less awkward!

gonetoelpaso, what constitutes a date night for you? For me it is going with my wife and enjoying her company no matter where I go. Whether it be a strip mall or a fancy restaurant. I am smart and mature enough to make the distinction. Obviously, you don't. Also, I didn't know that date night had a specific itinerary.

Lol!! Wel this is El Paso, would your date prefer Chicos Tacos? If there is a Joe's Crab Shack or good steakhouse, it might be good for dates.

I don't get your point. What does that have to do with this particular subject?

Cattleman's is DELISH, but a bit of a drive... (Although, I think that is part of the fun if you have the time and are up for the drive.)

I agree with Violet West, the Fountains could be a suitable place for a casual sort of date if there was a nice restaurant, and then an ice cream or froyo place you could walk on down to after dinner. Then you can stroll around eating your dessert or whatever...
