I almost hate to say it, but I think the ability to go to J as teenagers made us all a bit more mature when we got into college.

I remember when all the El Pasoans in our group were Freshmen at UT, everyone else from Houston and Austin and Dallas were getting fake IDs so they could go down and get drunk on 6th Street.

Those of us from El Paso had a "whatever" attitude since drinking in a bar was old hat for us. We were perfectly happy to just stay home and drink a bit more responsibly (I didn't say legally).

As a parent now, I'd hate to make a statement like "all kids should go hang out in bars at age 14" but I have to say, it didn't hurt us at all, and not one of us ever got arrested, in a fight, or killed.

Now there's a phrase I never thought I'd hear again as long as I lived.

Wow.

Mexican Coca Cola is available at Sam's on North Mesa! Also found it at Costco in Tucson. Saw it for sale at Walgreeens in El Paso tambien.

I hated the small stalls at Chihuahua Charlies - close the door and it banged on your knees with your shoes left sticking out into the aisle.
