Maybe we need people who don't throw their trash out onto the streets. I was recently visiting a state park in another state, a very clean looking park and what really impressed me was when there was a piece of litter or a plastic bottle tossed, it offended the people so much that they would go over and pick up the litter and dispose of it in a trash can. I could never imagine the people in El Paso having that kind of pride.

Imagine if the people here found litter to be so offensive that they all got involved in picking it up? No -- the mentality here is leave it for the politicians to solve.

A Hispanic mayor would be an American mayor. Cook, regardless of heritage, won the election. The next winner might be Hispanic. Lets just hope they both do a great job.

That's obviously what the OP means to say. He believes that Cook is for whites and a mayor like the Juarez one also living here would be for "his" people, the Mexicans living here.

Why complain right here on the border? Immigration doesn't have to be a one-way street does it? Those who prefer the hispanic way, having all hispanic leaders - mayor, Congress, Los Pinos can simply pack up and head south. Those who can deal with American kind of mayors -- which means any ethnic background - can choose to live here.

The OP also forgets that there are other choices even here - he could live in Sunland Park which also has one his his kind of mayors and everything there is so neat and clean, perfect in every way.

What the freak do these issues have to do with a Hispanic v. a non-Hispanic mayor? Potholes and darkness are pretty dang universal to me. AND speaking of crooks....please tell me about all the politicians who are being investigated/arrested/indicted/sentenced for corrupton? What is their background?

I'm sorry, but everytime someone like you thinks is that this city is only for "the majority" then you had better qualify your statements better and stop making broad generalizations about non-Hispanics. What if your mayor was Asian? Or African-American?

If you are saying the Mayor/City Govt. is not paying attention to "the majority", then there would be no stance on PERTINENT issues like health care, immigration, education, development, violence.

I am relatively new to El Paso, but you need to get out of the city and take a look around THE REST OF THE WORLD. You exhibit that "tunnel vision" inherent to someone who has never left their backyard.
