The 2-way stop at Tierra Este and R C Poe is a busy intersection in the mornings; and yesterday (Thursday, 05-13-2010) at 7:45 AM was no exception. There were at least fours cars and two pedestrians who witnessed my car accident on Thursday morning, but no one stayed- not to see if any one was ok, not to call 911 and not to stick around and say what they witnessed. I was hit, by a speeding teenager, and my car is totaled and because I had the stop, and no one who witnessed the accident could say other wise, I am being cited and left to pay the damages of the boy who left me carless.
Please if anyone saw this accident and is willing to give a statement to the insurance agencies, please contact me:

Sorry to hear that, as you can see, there's a lot of apathy here in E.P. - no one cares and no one wants to get involved if it doesn't concern them. I am a bit skeptical though - if it was a hit & run and you were not at fault, why would you be cited?

I have to disagree. My Mother was in a car accident. Eight other cars pulled over to offer assistance and none would leave until they made sure to pass on what they saw to PD.

I wasn't a hit and run, the kid stuck around but the SISD police took care of the scene

Well there is problem number one. All School police are required to turn all crimes/accidents and so forth over to the proper authority of that area. If this was on School property, they could handle it, but if it was on a city street, then the EPPD should of handled the case. The School police are police, but they are not trained in the local city laws, and procedures. I would contact an attorney and get some advice, seems to me you have a case not only getting your ticket dismissed but in getting a judgment against this kid. I hope you took pictures with your cell phone and traded info with this other driver.
I also think because of the time of the accident many people did not stop or help because they did not want to be late for work or school. I dont think is was due to not caring. I have seen a few accidents here in El Paso since my coming here and people have been very caring and helpful, wanting to give as much info to nail the SOB they feel caused the accident. So dont think it was personal, I think it was just the timing of it all. I hope you get satisfaction, and this is resolved soon.
