UTEP Miner on Academic All-America team

More and more positive news out of UTEP and the Sun City.

UTEP softball standout Stacie Townsend was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Softball first team.

Townsend, a graduate student working on her MBA, graduated in three years and was a UTEP top-10 graduate with a 4.0 grade average. She picked up 25 pitching wins this season (out of UTEP's 31). The Orlando, Fla., native had a no-hitter, five shutouts, 11 double-digit strikeout games and went over 800 strikeouts in her career.

The All-American teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
